Live Manager

Overview

Live Manager gives you greater control over how you plan and manage your LIVE shopping sessions. With LIVE Manager, you can control planning and managing LIVE sessions without depending solely on your mobile device to tell your brand's story. It's also a great way for moderators and assistants to plug in so that you can focus on hosting a great live shopping event.
Key features that you'll find here for live streaming include:
  • LIVE Events that enable you to plan, promote and manage your live shopping sessions effectively
  • LIVE Product Set that you can set up and launch all the products for LIVE in one click
  • Activity & order management Feed to help you engage with your shoppers in real time as they send gifts and make purchases

Accessing LIVE Manager

Navigate to Seller Center -> LIVE & Video -> LIVE Manager

LIVE dashboard Components

The LIVE dashboard is the main interface that you will use to manage your stream from a desktop environment. It has five main components:

  1. Metrics panel: Allows you to track the viewers and GMV during a livestream.
  2. Product panel: Allows you to add products to your Shopping Bag, which is the list of products that you'll be featuring in your stream for viewers to browse and purchase. You can sort products and pin them.
  3. LIVE feed panel: Allows you to see your livestream. When you first enter the LIVE dashboard, the screen will be turned off.
  4. Activity: Allows you to see viewers' comments, activities such as gifting and orders, suggestions on how to increase your stream's performance, and information on violations
  5. Advanced view and settings: Enter the advanced view of LIVE Board and toggle between dark and light mode

Adding Products to your Shopping Bag

Click the plus button to add products to your LIVE. Once you've added products, they'll appear on the left panel. Search through your inventory to quickly identify and manage specific products before and during your LIVE to more easily navigate larger catalogues. You can also filter by product categories to identify and add products to your LIVE shopping bag.

There are a few ways you can manage products, including:
  1. Rearrange the order of the products by dragging them or by changing their order number
  2. Search for specific products
  3. Refresh the product list
  4. Move products up to the top of the list
  5. Delete products from the list

Once you go LIVE, you will see the Pin button, which allows you to pin the product and make it visible to your viewers.

Live Products Set

A LIVE product set allows you to curate a set of products you can add to your LIVE with a single click. Once created, your product sets can be used repeatedly in LIVEs.

In App

On your TikTok Shop Creator Center, click on LIVE product set under TikTok Shop toolkit.

Step 1: Provide information about your product setEnter the name and description (optional) of your product set and then click Next.

Step 2: Add products from various channels
  • Showcase
  • Collab Invites
  • Product URL
  • TikTok Shop (only for sellers)
(Note: Sets are limited to a maximum of 100 products.)

Step 3: Manage products in your product setFrom your LIVE product set page:
  • Add: Click on Add Products to add a product from your Showcase or through the product URL.
  • Delete: There are two ways to delete a product from your product set:
    • Click on the three dots in the product box you want to delete and select Remove Product.
    • Click on Edit Set, select the product you want to remove and click on the trash can icon.
Sort: Click on Edit Set and use the three-bar icon to move a product up and down the list.Once done editing the product, click on Create on ¨Done¨ in the top right corner.

Step 4: How do I manage my LIVE product set?
  • Add: Click the Create Product Set button to create a new product set.
  • Delete: Swipe left on the product set you want to delete and select Delete.
  • Copy: Swipe left on the product set you want to duplicate and select Copy.
  • Edit: Click on Product Set to enter the detail edit page.

How do I add a product set during my LIVE?
Step 1: On your Go LIVE page or during your LIVE, click on the shopping cart icon and select Products.

Step 2: Choose the LIVE product set you want to add, and click Add All to enter the Add Product page.You can preview the product list in your LIVE product set and select Add All to add all products with one click.
Step 3: Receive confirmation that the products were added. After the product set is added successfully, a confirmation message will appear on the page.

On the LIVE Manager homepage, click on LIVE Product Sets under the LIVE tools menu on the left side.

How do I create a LIVE product set?
Step 1: Provide information about your LIVE product set.Fill in all the required information.

Step 2: Add products from various channelsYou can add products through the following channels:

  • TikTok Shop (only for sellers)

Step 3: Manage the products in your product set
  • Add: Click Add Products to add products to your product set.

    • Click on the six-dots icon to reorder your product list by dragging a product up or down it.
    • Click on Top to automatically move a product to the top of your product set list.
  • Once all the editions are done to the set, click on Submit.

Step 4: How do I manage my LIVE product set?
  • Add: Click the Create Product Set button in the upper right corner to create a new product set.
  • Preview: Click on the product set to see product details.
  • Edit: Click the edit icon to change basic information and the products in your product set.
  • Delete: Click the trash can icon to delete a product set.
  • Copy: Click the copy icon to duplicate a LIVE product set.
(Note: There is a limit of 50 LIVE product sets per account.)

How do I add a LIVE product set to my LIVE?
Step 1: Go to the LIVE Manager homepageIn the Live Tools menu, select Live Console and click on Add Products.

Step 2: Select the LIVE product set to addClick Add All to enter the Add New Products page.You can preview your product list in the selected product set and add all products by clicking Add All.

Step 3: Receive confirmation that products were added After the product set is successfully added, a confirmation message will appear on the page.

LIVE Billboards

LIVE Billboards can help you communicate critical product selling points and exciting promotions throughout the duration of the session as shoppers enter and leave. You can even use images for an even more eye-catching and engaging experience.
  1. To prepare Billboards in advance within LIVE Manager, navigate to the Billboard tab.

  2. Here, you can access and edit Billboard templates, as well as create new Billboards from images.

To create a Billboard with an image, start with an image that’s at least 480x360 pixels and upload it to the image tab

Operating your LIVE

Once you have set up your products and promotions, when you start your LIVE on your phone, the stream will sync with the center screen, showing you the livestream here as well.

Going LIVE from Desktop & OBS Virtual Camera (Open Broadcast Software)

You can initiate a stream from LIVE Manager for an immediate go-LIVE experience or begin a stream on desktop for a scheduled event. This allows you to select different camera and audio sources, including OBS Virtual Camera.
Note: OBS is a 3rd party software - we cannot offer support for issues specific to the OBS application.

Initiating LIVE from Desktop

  1. Navigate to LIVE dashboard and click Go LIVE. If you're starting a scheduled event, navigate to the event in LIVE Events tab and click View console for the selected event.
Note: You won't be able to go LIVE before the event's scheduled start time.

  1. Select the video source and audio sources from your computer for the stream. Click Go LIVE

  2. If OBS is detected running in the background, OBS Virtual Camera will be the default option for the camera source. You can also manually select OBS Virtual Camera as the Video source in the Audio & Video settings. When the user clicks start, the stream will begin and pull the video feed from OBS

  3. Once LIVE, you can manage the stream via the Mobile app by selecting Manage LIVE. This allows you to manage and pin products and deploy promotions on your phone.
  4. If you select Go LIVE on your phone, you will be reminded that you are streaming on another device and that you need to end your LIVE on desktop to begin

Desktop Practice Mode

You can also enable Practice Mode to emulate your stream experience without viewers being able to see your stream. Practice Mode can be enabled from LIVE Dashboard or from a specific event ahead of its scheduled time, and you can engage Practice Mode to try out streaming with different video and audio source inputs, such as OBS.
  1. In the center screen, toggle on Practice Mode.

  2. Once Practice Mode has been enabled and you click Practice, a practice stream will begin that no viewers will be able to see or join. You'll see a label in the center screen indicating that Practice Mode has been engaged.
  3. To end Practice Mode, click the power button in the top right corner of the center screen. Alternatively, click Go LIVE to begin an actual LIVE.

Managing Live in the App

Now you can manage your LIVE directly from your phone—even if it was started on the PC Live Manager!
Tap "Manage Live" in the TikTok app, and a window will pop up allowing you to control your products and giveaways in real time.

Managing Comments

While LIVE, you can read and reply to viewers' comments from the comment section on the righthand screen.

To reply to a comment, click the comment, select the arrow button and type your response. All viewers will be able to see your reply.
You can also pin a comment to bring better visibility to a specific viewer or moderator comment. Select pin comment to position the comment at the top of the comment feed. A pinned comment on desktop will also appear pinned on mobile.

Violations

During your stream, navigate to the Violations tab to track any livestream violations.

LIVE events

LIVE Manager gives you greater control over how you plan and manage your LIVE events. You can manage all aspects of planning and running a LIVE shopping event without depending solely on your mobile device. It's also a great way for moderators and assistants to plug in so that you can focus on having fun engaging with your viewers and sharing great products.
LIVE events created on desktop have a one-to-many relationship with your livestreams, so over the duration of your LIVE event, you can have multiple LIVE sessions within one LIVE event. This allows you to pause, take a break, and resume your session for the duration of your LIVE event.
Note: Unlike LIVE events created on mobile, which need to be scheduled at least 2 hours in advance, when creating a LIVE event through the desktop, you can schedule in advance or go LIVE immediately.

Scheduling your event

  1. On the LIVE Manager home page, under LIVE tools, select LIVE events. Here, you can view upcoming and past events, as well as schedule future events.

  2. Click New LIVE event and add in the details of your upcoming LIVE event.

  3. Duration: Once you've selected your start time, specify the duration, which must be 30 minutes minimum and maximum 13 hours.
  4. Recommend this LIVE event on your videos: If you toggle this setting on, events links to your LIVE are added to all videos until the scheduled end time of your event.
Note: If you are creating an event that overlaps with a previously scheduled LIVE event, you'll be reminded that you have another event scheduled. Either delete the previously scheduled LIVE event or select a different timeframe.

Once you've created your LIVE Event, you can then set up the products, LIVE Giveaways and other features for your upcoming session. You can also delete your LIVE Event here.

Preparing for your event

  1. Click open event. You'll be redirected to the event's dashboard, where you can select the products to include. You can add products for a maximum of 100 products total.

  2. You can add LIVE product sets, showcase products, product links from sellers for a maximum of 100 products total.

Promoting your event

Now that you’ve set everything up, it’s time to promote your LIVE event. This is an essential preparatory step to take. By increasing awareness and attendance ahead of time, you're more likely to have a larger, more engaged audience during your event, which can lead to increased traffic and sales.
  1. On TikTok, go to your profile and tap the menu icon → “ Settings and Privacy.” Scroll down to LIVE and tap it -> Tap on Live Events

  2. On the event page, tap the + icon under Related videos. Create a short video that teases the products you’ll be featuring, LIVE giveaways and Flash Sales to look forward to, and other key selling points in your upcoming LIVE session. Once recorded, this video will be shown on the For You Page, helping spread the word about your event.

  3. Make sure to toggle on ‘Recommend event on your videos’ to add the event link to your past videos, inviting viewers to subscribe to your event
  4. Once you've scheduled your event, you can promote the event to your audience ahead of time to increase awareness and attendance. Users who RSVP to your Event receive a notification once you're LIVE, so it's beneficial to promote your Event well in advance to attract more viewers.
  5. On desktop, click Promote next to your scheduled event. From here, you can create a short promotional video that includes a link to the event, or copy the event URL to share and post on and off TikTok

  6. Scan the QR code from your phone to open the scheduled event on mobile. From there, create a short video and toggle on add event link to make sure that viewers see and RSVP to the event

  7. You can also download the event QR code to repost on and off TikTok, or copy the Event URL for on and offplatform sharing.
  8. When viewers scan the event QR code, they will be taken to the event registration page, where they can sign up to attend in advance.

Tip: 2-3 days before your LIVE event, you can Promote your short video to drive awareness ahead of the event.

Starting your event

Ten minutes before the scheduled start of your event, the event dashboard will load all selected products and your phone as indicated by the center screen. Below, you can see 4 products on the desktop are synced with products on mobile. You'll also receive a notification on mobile reminding you that your upcoming event will be set up shortly.

  1. Click into your LIVE event before you're scheduled to start and you'll see a countdown to when your LIVE event starts.
When it's time to start, the LIVE console center screen will display that the console is connected to your phone, all information is loaded and you're ready to begin.

  1. On mobile, click Go LIVE to begin the session.

  2. Your LIVE event will open into a new window, which will be a full screen version of your console for easier viewing. Your live stream will sync with the LIVE console, showing you the event's livestream on desktop as well.

  3. Once you go LIVE, you will see the Pin button, which allows you to pin the product and make it visible to your viewers.

  4. On the right panel, you can keep track of general comments and product-related comments, as well as order activity and violation information. Note that you can also change the size of the font.

  5. On the top panel, you can track the date of the livestream, the start time, the duration, the number of viewers, and the GMV generated during the LIVE.

  • Enter LIVE Board for more detailed real-time analytics
  • Switch between light and dark mode
  • Enter full-screen mode

Ending your event

When it's time to finish your event, you can either end your stream on mobile or within the console. Click End Live within the console or tap the power button on mobile.

After your event

You can access Past events within the LIVE events tab for a list of all events. If your LIVE event had multiple sessions over the course of the event, each session will be broken out beneath the main event. You can view granular details for each session, including:
  1. Number of products featured in the session
  2. Analytics: Clicking Analytics will take you to Livestream Analytics for that session to view detailed performance
  3. View console: Clicking View console will open up that session's specific console, where you can view past giveaways and winners, and replay or download the session and session comments. Note that you can't make any edits to a past session or its settings.

Analyze performance

After your LIVE is complete, navigate to Data Compass > Livestream Analytics. Click on Details of the livestream that you want to recap. In the detail page, click on View Dashboard to be directed to the LIVE Recap dashboard. For more detailed information, check out this dedicated feature guide.
