LIVE Auction
What is LIVE Auction
Note: This feature is currently available to selected sellers only.![]() | LIVE Auction is a real-time, interactive shopping format where sellers can sell auction-listed items during LIVE and set a starting bid price. Viewers can then bid a specific price for the item and the highest bidder wins the right to purchase the product at the bidded price. Unlike traditional e-commerce, pricing and demand are determined in the moment, with countdown timers, limited inventory, and visible competition creating urgency.Shoppers can ask questions, see live demonstrations, and engage alongside other buyers, transforming shopping from passive browsing into a participatory, entertainment-driven experience that blends content, community, and commerce. |
⚠️ Key Principle: Auction products can only be sold through the auction method — they cannot be sold as regular products. You can toggle a product back to regular listing later if needed.
How does the overall Auction process look like?
- Seller goes live → starts auction (set auction duration, starting price)
- Viewers bid in real time → timer counts down
- Last highest bid wins → auto checkout

How To Create Auction Product Listings
Before you can start a LIVE Auction, sellers need to create auction product listings. Auction product listings can be seen and used during an auction in a LIVE session. Once your LIVE Auction has ended, shoppers cannot search or view these products in your shop or elsewhere. There are two methods to create auction product listings.Important Guidelines
Topic | Method A: Product Listing via Seller Center PC | Method B: Temporary Auction |
| Product listing usage | Auction product listings created via Seller Center PC can be used repeatedly across multiple livestream sessions. | Temporary auction product listings can only be used once in a single livestream session. |
| Product visibility | All auction product listings are only visible in a livestream (regardless of whether an auction is ongoing or not), and buyers cannot search or view these auction product listings anywhere else. | |
| Product quota |

| Convert product |
| Temporary auction product listings cannot be converted back into a regular-priced product listing. |

Use Temporary Auctions to Simplify Fulfillment
When a temporary auction product listing is created, it is automatically assigned a dynamic sequential number (e.g. #1) in front of the product name. This dynamic sequential number will update in real-time once each item completes a successful bid.![]() | During the auctionOnce the bidding has been completed, hosts just needs to announce the sold unit number (e.g. "Item #1 is sold!")The next temporary auction item will automatically be assigned as #2, and this dynamic numbering will continue for the subsequent temporary auction items alongside each successful bid. |
![]() | It is recommended for hosts to immediately label numbers on the winning item with a sticky note with the corresponding number, to easily manage fulfillment after the LIVE session.Packers can easily pick by number → fewer errors, faster packing. |
- If you start a temporary auction (e.g., #5) but no one places a bid, the next time you run a temporary auction it will still be labelled as #5. This is because there was no successful bid.
- If someone wins #5 (regardless of whether payment is successful), the next auction you run will be labelled as #6.

Sold Items View
Once viewers successfully bid on an item, an order is automatically created for the winning bidder and sellers can view their sold auction items in the Sold items tab, by order level or by product level.- The order-level view (sorted by most recently received orders) helps you to prioritize order processing, as you can quickly identify newly placed purchases that need immediate packing and shipment. This allows you to reduce the risk of delayed orders during peak traffic periods.
- The product level view (broken down into individual SKUs) helps you to track item-specific demand, inventory movement, or fulfillment status. This allows you to identify which SKUs are popular auction items, and quickly replenish high-performing items or optimize your auction strategy per item to maximize sales opportunities.

No. | Bid Price & Incremental Bid Value | User Bid Type & Bid Amount | Example scenarios |
1 | Starting bid price: 100 Incremental bid value: 10 |
| As there is only 1 user with custom bid and no users with fixed price bid, the auction price will become 110 (100 + 10). If there are no other bids placed before the countdown ends, User A will win the bid at 110. |
2 | Starting bid price: 100 Incremental bid value: 10 |
| As there are 2 users with custom bid and no users with fixed price bid, the auction price will immediately become 1510 (1500 + 10). User A is outbidded, while User B is winning. Unless there is a new fixed price bid or a new custom bid placed that is higher than 1510, User B will win the bid at 1510. |
3 | Starting bid price: 100 Incremental bid value: 10 |
| As there are 2 users with custom bid and no users with fixed price bid, the auction price will immediately become 810 (800 + 10).User B is outbidded, while User A is winning. Unless there is a new fixed price bid or a new custom bid placed that is higher than 1500, User A will win the bid at 810. |
4 | Starting bid price: 80 Incremental bid value: 10 |
| As there is a mix of users with fixed price bid and custom bid, the incremental bid value will be applied onto the fixed price bid. In this scenario, the bid price will jump from 80 -> 90 -> 100 -> 102 -> 112. The incremental bid value of +10 is applied onto the existing highest fixed bid price (80 -> 90 -> 100) until it was outbidded by the custom bid (102), upon which the incremental bid value was applied onto the custom bid, resulting in the final bid price displayed to be 112. Users A, B, C are outbidded, while User D is winning. Unless there is a new fixed price bid or a new custom bid placed that is higher than 112, User D will win the bid at 112. |

Payment Methods
To enjoy a seamless bidding experience, viewers are encouraged to bind a payment card to their account so successful bids can be processed instantly with automatic payment deduction. This helps avoid failed payments after winning an auction, prevents the need to re-bid on the same item, and reduces the risk of missing out on a great deal or losing the item to another bidder.Payment Scenario | What Happens |
| Auto-payment succeeds (bound card with successful payment) | Order auto-created + paid automatically |
| Auto-payment fails (Unsuccessful payment or "other" payment method) | Order auto-created; buyer has 15 minutes to complete payment manually
|
| Buyer doesn't pay within 15 minutes | Order is canceled; product marked as unsold and inventory is returned |

Auction Gameplay & Best Practices
These are strategies that different seller groups can adopt when using LIVE Auction.Recommended categories: Collectibles, fashion (stock clearance, return, exchanges), personal care
New / Small Sellers (Low Traffic + Low Conversion)
Primary Play: Giveaway + Auction| GTM Lever | Strategy |
| Positioning | "Zero-audience launch kit" — frame LIVE Auction as the fastest way to get first sales without ad spend |
| Target sellers | New or small sellers |
| Playbook | Guided 3-step starter tutorial: (1) Set up a giveaway to attract followers → (2) Run 3–5 back-to-back auction rounds on one SKU → (3) Relist to sustain momentum |
Niche / Collectible Sellers (Low Traffic + Low Engagement)
Primary Play: Auction Top-Selling Products for Traffic Generation (Hook Products)| GTM Lever | Strategy |
| Positioning | "Turn your best-seller into a crowd magnet" — use known-value products at ultra-low starting bids (e.g., 1 yuan) to pull in viewers |
| Target sellers | Sellers in categories with high price awareness (beauty, electronics accessories, trading cards, branded goods) |
| Playbook | Educate sellers on the "loss-leader auction" model: sacrifice margin on 1–2 hook SKUs to fill the LIVE room, then monetize through regular-priced follow-up items |
Multi-Category / Established Sellers (Mid Traffic + Mid Conversion)
Primary Play: Regular Livestream + LIVE Auction Hybrid| GTM Lever | Strategy |
| Positioning | "Supercharge your regular LIVE with auction moments" — auctions as an engagement spike tool within existing streams |
| Target sellers | Sellers already streaming 3+ times/week with a broad catalog (fashion, home, general merchandise) |
| Playbook | Recommend inserting 2–3 auction "events" per hour of regular LIVE, using limited or exclusive SKUs to break monotony, boost watch time, and re-engage drop-off viewersExample LIVE rundown template (e.g., 0–10 min: hero product showcase → 10–15 min: auction drop → 15–25 min: catalog walkthrough → repeat) |
High-Volume / Inventory-Heavy Sellers (High Traffic + Low Conversion)
Primary Play A: Flash Sale + Auction| GTM Lever | Strategy |
| Positioning | "Convert your traffic into GMV with a 1-2 punch" — Flash Sale captures intent; Auction sustains excitement |
| Target sellers | Sellers with large follower bases but below-average conversion rates; clearance/seasonal inventory holders |
| Playbook | Open LIVE with a timed Flash Sale (5–10 min) to drive urgency and fast checkout, then pivot to low-starting-price auctions every 20–30s to keep the room buzzing; pair with giveaways to continuously grow viewer count |
| GTM Lever | Strategy |
| Positioning | "15-second frenzy" — create extreme urgency to convert hesitant browsers |
| Target sellers | Same high-traffic sellers, especially in high-ASP categories (jewelry, electronics, designer goods) |
| Playbook | Use "Sudden Death" mode for quick, decisive sales on high-demand items; extend auction timer on items where bidding wars develop to maximize final price |
Recurring / Growth-Stage Sellers (Low Traffic, Building Audience)
Primary Play: Post LIVE Highlights as Preheat Videos| GTM Lever | Strategy |
| Positioning | "Every LIVE feeds the next one" — turn past auction highlights into audience-building content |
| Target sellers | Sellers committed to a regular LIVE schedule (2+ sessions/week) but still growing their viewer base |
| Playbook | After each LIVE, auto-clip top auction moments → post as short-form preheat videos with "Next LIVE" countdown sticker → pair with CRM push (followers, past buyers) 2–4 hours before next session |
High-Frequency / Ad-Hoc Sellers (Operational Efficiency Focus)
Primary Play: Use Temporary Listings for Auctions| GTM Lever | Strategy |
| Positioning | "List it, sell it, ship it — in minutes" — remove friction for sellers auctioning one-off or rotating inventory |
| Target sellers | Thrift/vintage sellers, small-batch artisans (independent sellers or businesses that produce goods in limited quantities, e.g. handcrafted goods), bulk resellers (sellers who specialize in reselling excess, returned, overstocked, refurbished, or unsold inventory) |
| Playbook | Use Temporary Listings to skip full product setup; label items #1, #2, #3 at a physical packing station for instant post-auction fulfillment |
